OBERSEE

Obersee focuses on the development of a new process of filming, projecting, re-filming, and projecting, in which the imagery generated serves to reveal the constitution of the medium. Rather than using digital editing software, the footage is compiled physically by moving the projectors and adjusting cameras in an attempt to conduct and capture the intangible. Applying techniques of the past to the technology of the present to conjur a vision of the future, the digital waves of information merge to convey a meditative journey into a place beyond continuously blurring boundaries.
The work was recently created for the NEoN Digital art festival to be shown at Olympia, and features digital video I have taken of watery scenes from Venice, Cumbria, Coast of Mull and Lake Obersee in Austria.

My practice is concerned with the impact of technology on our perception of the world in which we live. Exploring the boundaries between our real and the virtual, the challenges thus posed to our understanding of space and materilality.
I studied Art and Philosophy at Duncan of Jordanstone college of art in Dundee, Scotland, and Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada. I now live and work in Glasgow.
